OIC offers an enormous range of opportunities for volunteers. Here are ways you can help.
- Join in making the Annual Awards Banquet a truly outstanding community event. Here are some of the activities that require volunteers:
- Planning the event
- Soliciting sponsors
- Soliciting items for the silent auction
- Promoting table sales and sales of individual tickets
- Designing the invitation and the program. Making arrangements for printing
- Updating the mailing list. Making appropriate additions
- Promoting the Banquet. Getting publicity
- Helping/heading with the function arrangements. Preparing table assignments and name badges. Greeting the guests and making sure they are accommodated
- Helping with the decorations
- Help with the same functions for the Kelly Miller Smith Memorial Prayer Breakfast in the fall as for the Annual Awards Banquet in the spring
- Write articles for the newsletter and assist in other ways
- Help maintain the web site. Keep it alive and vibrant
- Help maintain www.givingmatters.com, information regarding OIC that is registered with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee
- Serve on the Building and Grounds Committee
- Serve on the Development Committee, which raise the money that makes GED preparation and job training and placement possible
- Help with public relations
- Enhance relationships with partners such as St. Luke’s, Magdelene, Monroe Harding and the YMCA. Help develop new partners
- Assist with the Summer Youth Program. Help raise funds to support it
- Help students by tutoring and mentoring
- Recruit members for the Board and for the Advisory Council
- Assist in maintaining the student database, which tracks performance, and the files that support it.
- Assist with arrangements for the Strategic Planning Sessions in the spring
