OIC provides services to a number of partners in the area. The partners provide students. Because GED preparation, job training and job placement are not the core activity of the partners, having OIC provide these is good for the partners, good for OIC and good for the community.

Nashville OIC operates a satellite at the St. Luke’s FRC, providing services comparable to those offered at the main facility. GED preparation has been especially well received in the community. It is estimated that 46% of the residents over 25 in the St. Luke’s area do not have a high school diploma or GED  and GED preparation has proved to be a popular offering.  Click on  St. Luke’s Family Resource Center (FRC) for more detailed information than is contained in the website.

OIC offers participants in the YMCA Y-Build program GED preparation. Y- Build is an initiative to take youth out of crime-ridden projects and offer them the opportunity to learn skills in the building trades. None had completed high school before entering the program. GED preparation is an important component of their training.  Click on YMCA for more detailed information than is contained in the website.

OIC brings a job-training component to Magdalene’s residents. Magdalene’s customers most often face multiple barriers. OIC’s self-paced approach fits well with the needs of a population with a wide range of learning levels.  Click on Magdalene for more detailed information than is contained in the website.

OIC has been uniquely successful in working with young people from Monroe Harding as they seek to overcome in many cases severe problems of integrating into society.  Click on Monroe Harding for more detailed information than is contained in the website.
