Partnerships link Nashville OIC to a strong system of service providers with the common goal of improving lives through education and job training.  With student achievement as the focus, Nashville OIC receives referrals from partners as well as encourages students to connect with other programs that fit their needs.

Stronger Than My Father

We are excited to announce that our newest partnership is with Stronger Than My Father!  Stronger Than My Father (STMF), in partnership with Nashville OIC, will offer HISET test preparation classes to parents in the Antioch area. Backfield in Motion

Backfield in Motion (BIM), in partnership with Nashville OIC, will offer HiSET test preparation classes to parents while their children participate in BIM's programs. For more information about these classes, contact Helena Farrow, (615) 248-2906.

Backfield in Motion (BIM) is a Nashville, TN based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that believes academic achievement and exposure to diverse opportunities for learning can inspire inner-city boys to reach their maximum potential and to become significant contributors to society. Backfield in Motion includes athletics as a motivational tool in support of academic programs.

Safe Haven Family Shelter

Nashville OIC partners with Safe Have Family Shelter to provide HiSET Preparation, Computer Training and Job Placement to residents of the shelter to move families toward self-sufficiency. Nashville OIC and Safe Haven, as partners, were finalists in Collaboration College’s project grant program.

Safe Haven Family Shelter empowers Middle Tennessee homeless families with children to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. Safe Haven is the only shelter-to-housing program of its kind in Middle Tennessee that accepts the entire homeless family.

Metro Nashville Public Schools Community Career Centers

Nashville OIC and MNPS Community Career Centers recently formalized a partnership that transitions OIC's evening HiSET classes to Park Avenue Community Career Center located at Park Avenue Elementary School. These classes are offered to MNPS parents and grandparents, and the community-at-large Monday-Thursday from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. This partnership allows OIC to serve additional students and provides additional family programming at Park Avenue CCC.

The Community Career Center, sponsored by Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, under the direction of Federal Programs and Grants, offers a variety of computer training and job readiness classes to adults in the Nashville area.

US Bank

US Bank provides monthly financial literacy classes at OIC for students. Topics include personal finance, overdraft protection and fees, starting a small business, and home owneership, to name a few. Students enjoy these presentations and bring items for a potluck lunch at the beginning of each session.

Community Partners' Network

Nashville OIC actively participates in the goals of the Network and support its mission and vision.

Community Partners' Network builds collaborative partnerships on the foundation of trusting relationships by creating a spiritually transforming environment to engage, inform and educate partners and other stakeholders.

Magdalene/ Thistle Farms

Nashville OIC provides Computer Training for many participants of Magdalene/ Thistle Farms programs.

Founded in 1997 by Becca Stevens, Magdalene is a residential program for women who have survived lives of prostitution, trafficking, addiction and life on the streets. Thistle Farms is Magdalene's social enterprise.

Metropolitan Action Commission

Nashville OIC refers its HiSET graduates to Metro Action Commission to receive assistance with college preparation. Nashville OIC receives referrals from Metro Action Commission of students who need additional instruction in certain areas to meet the minimum HiSET practice test scores to enroll in Metro Action Commission’s adult education program. 

Metro Action Commission’s Community Adult Education Programs help customers develop basic skills in Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.

Nashville Career Advancement Center

Nashville OIC students are referred to Nashville Career Advancement Center to enroll in a program that provides onsite job training for those who qualify.

The Nashville Career Advancement Center works with individuals to explore career options, decide on a direction, target a career or industry, then strategize and market oneself for the job search.


Nashville OIC provides HiSET Preparation, Computer Training, and Job Placement to participants of the Music City Center Workforce Development Program.

JUMP’s mission is to empower merchants and residents to promote and preserve the Jefferson Street community.

Dollar General Corporation

Each year, Dollar General employees purchase and wrap Christmas gifts for the children of Nashville OIC students through its Angel Tree program.

Clark Memorial UMC

Clark Memorial graciously allows Nashville OIC to hold its Graduation ceremony at its facilities the fourth Sunday in June.

Fifty Forward RSVP

Volunteers from Fifty Forward RSVP tutor students and provide other support in the OIC office.

Fifty Forward RSVP serves as a volunteer center for adults 55 and older. This corps of volunteers believes in changing lives and making a difference in our community. RSVP volunteers provide meaningful service to more than 70 nonprofit agencies, public organizations, and elementary schools in Davidson and Williamson counties. Fifty Forward RSVP matches prospective volunteers to partner organizations in a simple process.

Watkins Park Community Center

Every summer, Nashville OIC hosts a Summer Youth Basketball and Cheerleading Camp at the Watkins Park Community Center.  Participants make friends, practice their sports and cheerleading skills, and learn about leadership and healthy eating from guest speakers.
