OIC’s customers must make a large commitment in time and energy to go through the program. Almost every customer has large barriers to success. No one can provide the resources to overcome those barriers except the customer.
Of course the services must be paid for. The revenue comes from grants and donations. Corporations, foundations and individuals provide the money. You can see a list of donors by looking at the current issue of the newsletter, which is attached to this site.
You can help in many ways. Of course a cash donation would be just splendid. But also OIC has two major fund-raising events:
- The Kelly Miller Smith Memorial Prayer Breakfast in the Fall
- The Annual Awards Banquet in the Spring
Consider coming to both events. They are truly uplifting. We would encourage you to think about purchasing a table.
OIC encourages individuals, corporations and foundations to become sponsors. They receive credit at both functions. Different levels of sponsorship are:
- Silver Sponsor, $1500
- Gold Sponsor, $3000
- Platinum Sponsor, $6000 and up
Contact Bernard Werthan, OIC Board Development Chair for more information about being a sponsor at
bernard@werthan.com or at 277-2056.
OIC provides apparel to customers through “My Sister’s Closet” so that they can dress appropriately for interviews and for a job. 100 Black Women and Les Gemmes donate much of the clothing, but many individuals give as well.
