Working with Students
- Actively assist teachers by providing specialized class instruction
- Tutor students. To gain a GED, students must pass tests in 5 subjects. Instructors cover all
- Mentoring. Almost all OIC students face daunting challenges. Mentors can help
Working with Staff
- Volunteers help maintain OIC records, such as its aggregation report and Performance Statistics. Volunteers maintain student files.
- Volunteers assist with receptionist duties, such as welcoming visitors and answering calls – Often OIC’s first contact with students and partners.
- Volunteers help staff enhance relationships with OIC’s partners.
Public Relations
- Volunteers help maintain the website and the GivingMatters.com profile
- Volunteers help promote OIC with the media
- Volunteers develop general publicity and publicity for events
- Volunteers assist with the newsletter
Development
- Volunteers engage in every activity related to the Annual Awards Banquet, OIC’s premier public relations event and fundraiser.
- Volunteers assist in preparing grant proposals and in making solicitations.
- Volunteers recommend new board members and assist in board recruitment.
