Assessment

Assessment takes place each Monday (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday). When you walk through the door at 1819 Charlotte Avenue, you’ll immediately sense that you have entered a warm and welcoming place, a place where everyone is respected and everyone is valued. First, you will take a Tennessee Basic Education (TABE) test. Don’t worry about taking a test. You cannot flunk. We only need to know where you are as you enter the program. You will meet with the job developer who will help you decide which OIC path best suits you.

GED Preparation

You may choose GED Preparation that can lead to a GED. At OIC we believe in you. We know you can succeed. OIC offers both classroom and computer assisted learning. You will also work with fellow students who will team up you. And tutoring is available as well. Even if you don’t earn a GED, every grade level advance is important in getting a job and building a career. You will have an opportunity through tests offered monthly to find out just how fast you are progressing. If you have a job now, that is not a problem since OIC offers both a daytime class and an evening class.

Soft Skill Training

Soft Skills Training leads to computer literacy. Are you missing out on the internet? You’ll acquire an email address if you don’t already have one and study Outlook, the Microsoft program the opens the internet to you. You’ll gain competency in other elements of Microsoft Office you’ve heard about, Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. Skill in these programs can help you land that job you’ve always wanted.
